The National Sunday Law Is Nothing But a Subtle Attempt to Supplant Christianity
The movement among various church alliances in North America to seek legal protection for the sanctity of Sunday has been receiving great support from individual Christians.
They believe that the Lord's Day should not be treated with such scant regard; that people must not feel as if they can do as they please on this day.
This has now become more of a concern with the regular opening of businesses and the playing of various sporting events on Sundays.
Many Christians who are engaged in this movement are doing it in a genuine effort to promote respect for what they believe to be God's holy day.
Certainly, Christian should consider it their duty to defend the things that belong to God against unjust encroachments.
But should we consider a national Sunday law the way to go if it so be that they are acting in defense of God's ordinance? Why would God need secular legal protection for something that He is quite capable of protecting Himself? On the other hand, it seem a little strange that a religious law of this nature can be passed but yet there is no guarantee of salvation, or lasting peace by conforming to this law.
The Christian groups who are pushing for blue laws don't seem to have any idea where it is leading.
For them to be advocating for laws to protect their religion seems to be an admission that the power of the gospel is not enough motivate people into obedience.
Very often Sabbath keepers are bombarded with accusations that they are "under the law" because of their belief in the obligation of the Ten Commandments.
By this accusation Sunday keepers are actually agreeing that they don't need laws in order for them to obey God.
If this is what they seem to believe then why are they forming coalitions to get the state to pass Sunday laws? Isn't this suggesting that laws are needed for us to obey God? And if that is what is implied, why not choose to be under the administration of the laws of God instead of the religious enactments of a secular state? My real concern about a national Sunday law is not in relation to its present objective, but to what it will eventually lead in the future.
The fact that Christians can be promoting the laws of men above the laws of God is saying something about the darkness and level of ignorance among the professed followers of Christ in the last days.
But where will all this leads? Let us bear in mind that the national Sunday law that now exist are not so much worship oriented as it is social oriented.
They are merely designed to prohibit the regular week-day activities on this day; they are not saying that you must go to church on Sundays, although it clearly facilitates it.
But if this is what the objective is about there is nothing to worry about.
Both Sabbath and Sunday keepers will not have a problem conforming to this law, since it is not a threat to their religious freedom.
But this could not be the sum total of what Satan would want since it has always been his intention to destroy Christianity.
If the various church alliances in North America and around the world should succeed in getting a national Sunday law enacted throughout world, all that they would have accomplished is to set the stage for a new religious scheme.
All that Satan needs is a legal framework by which he can legitimize his evil scheme.
If he can get each nation to enact a national Sunday law, even if it's socially oriented, that would be enough vantage ground for him to accomplish the demise of the hated religion - Christianity.
With legal protection for Sunday in place, all he would need to do is to introduce a new religious order, give Sunday observance a new meaning, strengthen the legislation, stiffen the penalties for its violation, and make it the center of this new religious scheme.
In this case a national Sunday law will no longer be a means of facilitating divine worship, but an obligation to worship something or somebody else apart from God.
If this should be accomplished then true Christianity would be under serious threat, and the faithful few who will be intent on preserving its identity will be forced underground.
You will recall the fact that one of the most significant attempts by the pagans to supplant Christianity in the fourth century is the passing of a Sunday law to honor the 'venerable day of the Sun'.
This was done to get the Christians to compromise their faith by embracing pagan practices.
This is the reason why Christianity is now wearing the apostate label simply because this one compromise has developed into a strong tradition up to to this very day.
In the last days the Devil will play the same game only with different players.
And this time he will not just attempt to get the people of God to compromise their religion but to effectively supplant Christianity and sweep it fully into the ranks of paganism!
