The Holy Quran

• The Holy Quran is a sacred text that is revered by all Muslims. When offered as a printed book, it should be hardcover with Arabic text and characters. Qurans are available with Islamic calligraphy and script in gold as well. A Quran holder should be given with the book, so that the recipient can always have his sacred book on display or easily accessible when praying from it.
  
  The Quran is now available in digital form, an alternative for those on the go. Many versions are available.
  
  

Prayer Mat

• A Muslim is required to salah (pray) five times a day at designated times. A prayer mat will be appreciated as a recognition of this ritual. Some prayer mats have a compass to assist the devotee in facing in the direction of Mecca as required during prayer. The design on the prayer mat is usually based on the village it came from, and usually includes Islamic architecture and symbols. Prayer mats are available in various colors and fabrics to suit many different tastes.
  
  

Hijab

• Islam requires women to wear a hijab, a simple piece of cloth wrapped around the head. Women usually wear an under-scarf or headband as well, to ensure no hairs are showing.
