    • 1). Launch your digital audio workstation and open the project in which you want to use Waves GTR3. Drag and drop the GTR3 Tool Rack plug-in from your workstation's plug-ins section onto the audio or MIDI track to which you want to apply the effect.

    • 2). Click the "Amp" button at the bottom of the GTR3 window to open the amplifier section, which contains two amps: a left and a right. Select an amplifier model for the left-hand amp from the "Type" drop-down menu. Change the cabinet and microphone types, if desired, using the respective drop-down menus, then adjust the amplifier's sound character using the "Drive," "Presence," "Bass," "Mid" and "Treble" knobs. Repeat the process for the right-hand amplifier.

    • 3). Click the "Stomp" button at the bottom of the window to open the pedals section. Click the down-arrow underneath a pedal slot and select a pedal -- "Distortion," for example, or "Flanger" -- from the menu that opens. Repeat the process for any additional pedals you want to add; you can use up to six pedals simultaneously. Drag and drop the Amp graphic to its desired position in the pedal chain.

    • 4). Click the "View" button to open the routing control window. Click the button above "Pre" to set the way in which Waves GTR3 routes the signal before it enters the amplifier. You can choose from "Cascade," "Parallel" or "Split" routing. Click the button above "Post" to determine how GTR3 routes the signal after it leaves the amplifier.

    • 5). Click the "View" button again to close the routing window. Adjust the pedals' controls as desired. Click the "Play" button in your digital audio workstation to listen to the audio track with Waves GTR3 applied to it.
