Kick The HabitStop Smoking And Get Fat?
We need to get real here and stop doing what we're really very good at - making excuses to NOT do something. The possibility of gaining a little extra weight is just nowhere near as worrisome as slowly suffocating to death because this silly fear prevents you taking all the necessary steps to effectively and permanently kick the habit.
Your weight and/or your metabolism issues are different and you ought not to let them interfere with your capability to successfully stop smoking simply and permanently.
Very simply put 'everyone is different'. We all have our own unique metabolisms so that some can chow down on an amazing amount of belly-busting food and still stay thin as a rake, while others (like yours truly) merely need to stroll past the bakery to lose the top button of our pants - it just isn't fair!
The subject of human metabolism is fairly complex so suffice to say that everybody reacts differently i.e. If you have a high metabolism it's likely you'll either put on no weight at all or you'll acquire only a negligible amount that won't even be noticed, while a low metabolism will probably result in some extra weight.
In general then, yes it's always possible that you may be one of those types susceptible to some minor weight gain and some people foolishly shy away from quitting smoking for the reason that they've heard this and have then assumed the most awful - but it doesn't necessarily apply to all and sundry.
What you really need to understand at this point is that no matter how much weight if any, you may perhaps gain, you must still be quitting a nasty and destructive addiction. It's just completely absurd that any person could think a trace of extra weight is more serious than the health-and-looks destroying properties of tobacco.
Just keep in mind here that quitting smoking is the main goal so your body heals itself of the terrible and prematurely ageing effects of tobacco/nicotine addiction - you don't need to be anxious about a small number of extra pounds, you can simply take care of that later on.
From whatever perspective you look at it and whatever silly excuses you try to make (been there, done that), a slight bit of possible extra weight is nowhere similar to the health hazard that smoking most assuredly is.
Let's go even more basic; no matter what silly excuses any person could ever make to not stop smoking, a bit of extra easily-gotten-rid-of weight is truly minor compared to the very real prospect of little by little and painfully suffocating to death in front of your loved ones!
In summary; worrying about a bit of possible extra weight gain is just plain ridiculous and even though you're bound to find it a little tough at first, being able to kick the habit is much easier than you think YOU ONLY HAVE TO WANT TO!
Quitting smoking naturally, speedily, and permanently isn't and has never been about overly complicated systems and/or poisonous pills and patches - it's all about simplicity, a little bit of will-power and some genuine tried and tested tobacco-quitting knowledge.
