Hi, I'm T. Cooper. I'm a New York City makeup artist, hairstylist, and co-founder of beauty and grooming company Metro Look. A question one of you recently asked was how do I do a high ponytail with no heat. Very simply, a lot of times people they want to use heat in a ponytail because they want to smooth out their texture and I think ponytails with texture are beautiful personally. Sometimes I like to leave it a little rough or not even smooth out the wave cause I think it's pretty but if you want to do a nice sleek high ponytail you can achieve that look with brushing and some gel, so for this look you're gonna need a brush, you're gonna need a hair tie. I use bungee's like this one and then we're gonna need some gel. So what we're gonna do first is we're just gonna take some gel and then we're going to smooth it around the base. This'll aid in getting all those little baby hairs and flyaways slicked up. So now we're gonna go in with our brush and brush it down, all around. So I'm gonna turn it to the side so you can kind of see. Try to pick up all those little stubborn baby hairs, a lot of times you miss hairs when you do a ponytail and then what I like to do is just brush it up higher and higher till I get it to where I want cause I've got little tiny hands so it's hard for me to hold a ponytail all-in-one sometimes so I just brush it up. The brush acts as my guide to get it up as high as I want it to be so I'm good with this right here so now I'm just gonna gather all this hair and the hair on the top I'm just gonna brush over it just to smooth it out some cause with these ponytails whatever you get, whatever it looks like is pretty much what you're stuck with so you need to make sure you're happy with the way it looks. Okay and I'm good with this right here. Well actually I'm just gonna smooth it just a little bit more. So now I go in with my bungee or if you have a hair tie that's fine or rubber band whatever you can scrape up. I'm just gonna go around the hair a couple times until it feels nice and secure like it's not going anywhere. My ponytail's a little off to the side cause I'm retro like that and then just give it a little tug and you're all done. You just did a nice high ponytail with no heat. I'm T.
