Scaly Face
Definition:
Scaly Face is a condition in birds caused by the Knemidokoptes mite. The mite burrows into a bird's skin, leaving crusty white lesions on the bird's face. Left untreated, Scaly Face can spread to other parts of the body, including the beak, cere, and legs. Scaly face is most common in Parakeets and Budgies.
Examples: Symptoms of Scaly Face are easily seen as flaky, white colored lesions.
