At the top of a rough piece of paper write down the central point you're trying to persuade your reader about.

This often happens in persuasive writing, and can leave a reader feeling confused about what you're trying to say.
The next step is to write down your main points.
Each point will be a paragraph.
You structure each of these paragraphs by outlining your point, then presenting some evidence and then finally a sentence to say why you're evidence is tied in to your point.
Presenting each of your main points as a paragraph also places emphasis on what you're saying, which is good if you're trying to put across strong views.
Take a moment to consider who you're persuasive writing for i.

your audience.
This is important because if you're being asked to persuade an un-knowledgeable reader about your topic then your writing will take on a much different style to if you're being asked to persuade someone in the know.
Someone who doesn't know about the subject you're talking about will need things explaining and it's important you don't make assumptions about what they do and don't already know.
Making general comments in persuasive writing is never a good idea, but particularly when you're writing for an un-knowledgeable reader.
These tips and rules will help you form the basic structure for persuasive writing and give you a much better chance of presenting your points in a coherent manner.
