How to Find Facts & Justified Solutions
- 1). Define clearly what the issue is and what is at stake. Write out what the central thesis of the conflict appears to be and hypothesize a few solutions to return to later.
- 2). Discuss with all parties involved what their vested interests and beliefs are in the matter. Question them about the specific details of the problem and what would be an acceptable solution.
- 3). Research similar cases or occurrences of a similar nature. Read about the legal aspects of the case or laws related to the facts.
- 4). Lay out the facts in a list or spreadsheet. Include who was involved, what happened and the consequences for each possible outcome.
- 5). Explore the possible solutions you set forth in your hypotheses. Test any new ones you've brainstormed along the way. Experiment with different outcomes and reactions for the parties involved.
- 6). Work toward a compromise and a justified solution based on your experience. Propose a mutually beneficial outcome for all involved. Present the details of your research to everyone and work with them to come to a viable conclusion.
