- 1). Access your applications. Press the menu key on your BlackBerry Pearl, denoted with the BlackBerry logo. Scroll through the list of icons with your trackball to highlight several different applications. Upon finding your preferred application, press down on the trackball to open it.
- 2). Use typing shortcuts. Use the SureType technology in your BlackBerry Pearl to make typing simpler. To insert a period after a sentence, press the "Space" button twice. Insert a symbol into your message by pressing the "Sym" button at the bottom of your phone. To capitalize letters, simply press and hold a particular letter button until the capitalized letter appears.
- 3). Download applications and themes. BlackBerry App World is the native download store for your BlackBerry Pearl. Access the home screen by hitting the BlackBerry symbol. Highlight and click on the icon called "BlackBerry App World." Browse through several different themes and applications until you find preferable ones to download.
