If you are reading this article right now it is because you haven't found a reliable solution yet in order to cope with your panic attacks. First of all, rest assured that you are not alone and millions of people throughout the world are battling stress, anxiety and panic attacks on a regular basis.

Now, you may have already been given a few options and among them I suppose that medication is the one you have already tried. Has it worked? It has probably worked for a few hours and then you were back on the same boat again, freaking out and feeling like you wouldn't be able to lead a normal life or shall I say an anxiety-free life.

Of course, many people are tempted by medication simply because they are approved by most doctors and many of these drugs are readily available especially in the United States. Famous anti-anxiety drugs are Xanax or Valium and physicians now tend to even prescribe anti-depressant to try to reduce the symptoms of panic attacks. Well, these solutions don't work and their effects are only temporary.

Prescription medication for general anxiety disorders or GAD only covers up the symptoms instead of targeting the root cause of the condition, which is clearly what needs to be the real focus.

So, what are the other options then? Do I really have a choice?

The answer is yes!

More and more people have decided to turn to what we call "a natural approach" to treating anxiety and panic disorders. Many different tips and techniques are available these days mainly on the internet and offer a very wide range of different solutions adapted to your particular disorder.

Amongst the most popular ones are of course relaxation techniques and CBT or cognitive behavioural therapy. CBT is simply a way of altering the way you are thinking by turning your negative thoughts into positive ones. This sort of therapeutic programme can drastically reduce your anxiety levels and therefore prevent panic attacks from developing.

Of course, this needs to be done with someone qualified but many online programmes can offer lots of tips and advice and can genuinely help you kick-start your journey back to full health again. People have also turned to other different therapies such as exposure therapy, which puts the patient voluntarily into a panic mode in a safe and very controlled environment to show that panic attacks occur in your mind and are totally irrational. Once again I really want to stress that these attacks can be controlled by yourself only as they take place in you mind.

As you can see, if you want to learn to cope with your panic attacks, there are many different ways and techniques available that work wonders. I also want to stress that there is absolutely no need for you to take medication and have to endure the side effects associated with the mind-numbing pills.
