How to Cross & Drop
- 1). Begin your approach from a distance, getting into position to strike your shot before the ball reaches the location.
- 2). Raise the racket back to strike, with either a forehand or backhand to match the side the ball will approach, and your weight on your back leg.
- 3). Position your lead foot at 90-degrees relative to the wall, and shift your weight forward.
- 4). Lower down as the ball approaches, getting your center of gravity below the ball.
- 5). Swing down on the ball, angling the swing to strike the ball across the court toward the far side of the wall.
- 6). Strike the ball in a slicing motion, with your swing at an angle relative to the face of the racket, to put back spin on the ball and cause it to travel in a soft arc that dives off the wall, instead of a hard smash.
