    • 1). Collect books and videos regarding the Grumman Goose and the controls. Due to the cost of Grumman Goose air hours, familiarize yourself with the systems of the aircraft to maximize your air hours when in the plane. In addition, go to a certified flight school with a simulator that has the software to simulate the Grumman Goose. Take two or three hours of Grumman Goose simulator training to further familiarize the Goose controls.

    • 2). Contact Pen Air in southwest Alaska. Pen Air is one of the last remaining flight services with a Grumman Goose in its fleet. Tell the agent your goals and make arrangements to lease the Goose for your flight or endorsement training. Ask for a recommendation for a flight instructor certified to train you and sign the needed flight log book endorsement in your book upon completion of the training and flights. As of 2010, Pen Air was the only carrier with a Goose used to train new Grumman pilots.

    • 3). Book your travel arrangements to get to Alaska. Arrange for lodging and transportation to the air hanger. The Air Hanger in Anchorage is at 6200 Boeing Avenue, Ste. 300, Anchorage, AK 99502.

    • 4). Bring your log book, license and payment method to the hanger. Strap in, and take off in one of aviation's most coveted rides.
