Offer leftover paint.
If you start painting your own home in a beautiful color, that just isn't right for your house, but it would be grand for the home across the street, offer the paint for their home.
Paint supplies are sometimes outside the financial range of a neighbor who's fallen due to tough times.
Simply the offer of paint may be enough, but an offer of help to paint their weather worn home may brighten their world too.
Offer repair services.
Perhaps you know how to fix the car? Or maybe they need the money from selling the car, more than the repairs.
Offer to help them get rid of an unwanted eyesore, by showing them how to list used cars on the Internet for sale.
With a little encouragement and a few dollars you may fend off the wolves for a neighbor in need and find a solution for your own economic improvement.
Consider the options before you give up on your neighborhood.
