How to Adjust an LCD TV
- 1). Upgrade all the devices connected to your LCD TV (DVD/Blu-ray player and cable/satellite receiver). To get the best from your LCD TV, adjusting it to work with high definition accessories is highly recommended to maximize the experience. Upgrading your satellite or cable service is usually $5 to $10 extra, and Blu-ray players can go for as little as $100.
- 2). Connect your accessories to your LCD TV using HDMI cables. HDMI cables provide high definition video and audio signals through a single cable. Plug the HDMI cable from the HDMI port on your LCD TV into an available HDMI port on your devices.
- 3). Turn on your LCD TV once you have connected your devices using your HDMI cables. Select the "Input" option on your remote control and select the HDMI option by scrolling to view the available input options. For instance, if you connected your cable/satellite receiver to "HDMI 1," select that option when you want to view your cable or satellite TV, or if you connected your Blu-ray player to "HDMI 2," select that option when you want to use your Blu-ray player.
- 1). Press the "Menu" button on your cable/satellite remote control. Select the "Video output formats" or "Video output" menu. Look for the "Aspect ratio" and select the one that applies to your LCD TV (720 or 1080.) Select the "Exit" option once you are done.
- 2). Push the "Menu" button on your TV remote control. Select the "Video" or "Picture" option (depends on your TV). In this menu you can adjust your TV's image settings. Your TV settings are set up by the manufacturer to display the best picture. However, you can adjust the settings to fit your needs.
- 3). Test the settings on the "Video" or "Picture" menu by adjusting the "Color," "Brightness," "Contrast," "Sharpness," "Color temperature," "Tint" and "Picture mode" to your liking. Once you are done, push the "Exit" button on your remote control. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your settings, you can select the "Original Settings" or "Reset Video Settings" option on the same "Video" or "Picture" menu. This will restore your settings to the manufacturer's original video settings.
- 4). Adjust "Brightness" to decrease or increase the brightness on your TV's screen. Adjust "Contrast" to adjust the bright and dark areas of your picture. Adjust "Color" to intensify or lower the color of the picture. Adjust these settings while the room is dark to get the best picture possible.
