Poor behavior online is quite prevalent these days and this is why so many regular good people shy away from social networks.
After all, why go online to be abused verbally by malcontents they reason.
Sure, this is true enough and it is a good point, but are all these folks being short-sided or this really a serious problem? Proponents of social online networks will tell you that it's just human nature, and the same things go on in the real world.
Indeed, I totally agree, and yet, I do realize that there are things I read online or people say to me online that I just shake my head, my gosh, you'd never say that to me in person.
And I suppose someone using a screen name, is like someone wearing a ski-mask? And, yes getting back to the point that this is how humans socialize and play out their primate politics, still, on the Internet things can spiral out of control very quickly because it is in real time, people click "post" or "comment now" and in the real world they might think about it a day or two and then reply later.
So, is the intensive 24/7 online world fostering positive human relationships or is it actually driving away most good people because they choose not to be involved with it all; and if so, what good is it? Many who spend considerable time online will say that they have not had such experiences, but surely, they have, and if they tolerate that type of behavior, then they are actually allowing bad behavior to prevail.
These topics of human behavior online are important and should be discussed, otherwise humankind will not be served by these social blogging networks, forums and discussion sites.
