How to Market MLM - A Personal Story About Internet Marketing MLM

A friend of mine just asked me yesterday, "do you keep your options open?" That's always the way, isn't it? As soon as people hear that you're in an MLM, they pounce on you with the hopes that you'll change your focus and BUY into THEIR deal.
That's because people who are in network marketing are NOTORIOUS for changing focus and joining another deal.
This was the case with my daughter and myself when we were involved with a nutritional company.
We thought, if only there was a way to market this stuff online - then EVERYONE would want it! And, we were actually on the right track, because - well, if you just approach your friends and family with the stuff - they might buy a couple of things just to please you.
However, real money with MLM comes from building a downline.
And, it's a known fact that the majority of people you know personally actually DON'T want to build a business with you.
In fact, the majority of people I know believe that any and ALL MLM is a scam! (Do YOU know anyone like that? LOL) So my daughter and I started following the leader of this company for a long time and trying to figure out how this guy was able to recruit people on autopilot over the internet...
WITHOUT CALLING ANYONE! Nobody else was able to do it, and network marketing companies all over the world where telling their downline to pitch to their friends and family...
...
Yet this guy had to figured out - AND, he was able to climb to this status purely on his own - FROM A HOMELESS STATE LIVING IN A VAN!! Some people might get offended when they think about where he came from, but I really have a tremendous respect for anyone who can build themselves up on their own like he did.
He borrowed money from his Mom to get a computer for $150, and he used a $50 camera attached to his computer to make videos.
(Of course, we have it way easier these days because most of us have smart phones.
) Back in the day, my daughter began her venture of learning how to market MLM online by actually visiting this guy at a private training retreat.
Although she didn't see immediate results, she started to apply what she learned after she got back home.
The main thing she learned at the retreat is that you need to find a way to make initial success with your business, and then market your success, which then attracts others to your business.
Now, this is easier said than done, so I'd like to lay out for the three-step process she followed when she first started learning how to market MLM online...
She followed the three-step process: 1) She built a Facebook fan page for herself with video marketing giving value about what she had learned and encouraging people to join her business to gain the same knowledge.
2) She leveraged the relationships she had built while on the retreat, and marketed this online in the form of YouTube videos.
She also put edifying videos on her blog.
As soon as she was able to help someone in her downline, she encouraged them to make an edifying video about her, which attracted more people to her website.
3) She paid for SEO experts to rank her YouTube videos to attract more leads, which resulted in more online sales.
I used to think that the money she was spending towards SEO was insane, especially when some of the videos that were ranking suddenly were taken down or sandboxed.
Then I realized that everyone who has ever been successful in internet marketing MLM has "wasted" money in some way or another.
Actually, the experts don't use that terminology, because you have to be willing to make mistakes in business...
it's those mistakes that teach you how to "fail forward".
Continue learning from every mistake you make with the attitude of "CANI" (Constant And Never-ending Improvement), and eventually, you'll get there.
While the "failure" rate (actually, it's really the "quit rate") is still over 90% in the MLM business, there is still one more VERY encouraging fact: Out of those 10% of the people who NEVER GIVE UP, the success rate is 90% that they will be making a six figure income within ten years.
