How to Troubleshoot a Dish 500 119 Only Error
- 1). Look at the satellite and the direction the satellite is pointing for any obstructions that could be limiting your signal reception. Examples of obstructions include heavy rain or snow, a dirty or snow-filled dish, trees or bushes that have grown from the time your dish was installed and heavy cloud coverage in the southern sky.
- 2). Reset your Dish Network receiver by pressing the "Power" button on the remote control or receiver and then unplugging the receiver from the power outlet. Wait 10 seconds and then plug the receiver back into the power outlet. The receiver will reset itself. It may take up to five minutes for your receiver to completely reset.
- 3). Check the cables on the back of the receiver. Carefully pick up the cables and lightly shake them. If a cable slips out or jiggles loosely, tighten this cable connection.
- 4). Call Dish Network technical support and speak with a technical support agent (see Resources). A technical support agent will be able to inform you of known outages in your area, send you a new signal if your signal has been lost or dispatch a Dish Network certified technician to your home.
