Stump Removal Ideas
- Digging out the roots is one technique for removing a tree stump. This can be done by removing the soil up to a distance of around 3 meters around the tree. This is most effectively done by with the use of a spade and trowel in order to get to the areas around the roots. Ensure a number of the main root systems coming from the stump are removed. The roots can then be cut with the use of a chainsaw or an axe. Make an incision into the roots at a point less than a meter away from the stump.
- Another option for removing a tree stump is by splitting the stump down into pieces which can then be removed individually. This can be done with an axe. Remove pieces of the stump from the outside, gradually moving towards the center until the stump is small enough to remove from the ground.
- Stump grinding is another way of removing a tree stump. Grinding uses a spinning blade that gradually cuts away at the stump until it is small enough to be removed. Machines that have an appropriate spinning blade differ according to the size of the stump that needs to be removed. Blades can be rented or bought from many local gardening stores.
- The use of chemicals are also a way to remove trees stumps. Holes are initially drilled into the stump and chemical are added. The chemical will stop the tree from growing any further and cause the tree to gradually decay. This method is much slower than the other methods explained perviously; however, it is much less labor intensive.
