How to Wind a Drive Belt in a Whirlpool Dryer
- 1). Unplug the power cord. Remove the lint screen from its compartment.
- 2). Remove the screws next to the lint screen compartment. Lift the top panel up and rest it on its rear hinges.
- 3). Remove the screws near the top of the front panel. Lift the front panel and set it aside.
- 4). Slide the old belt off the drum and pulleys.
- 5). Loop the new belt along the groove on the drum.
- 6). Loop the other end of the belt around the idler pulley. The idler pulley is the one mounted on an arm that can be moved easily by hand.
- 7). Pull the belt toward the motor pulley from the bottom of the idler pulley. Loop the belt around the motor pulley. The belt should make an "S" shape when it is installed around both pulleys.
- 8). Reverse the disassembly steps to put the Whirlpool dryer back together.
