Foxglove
Such a beautiful flower, and it thrives here.
Foxgloves come in a variety of colors and some variations of shapes. I shot these on a summer afternoon in the Audubon beds around the fountain. It's important medicinally as digitalis, which treats heart conditions.
They make me think of orchids, but they're not, which shows what I know. They're also incredibly poisonous, as have the nicknames Dead Man’s Bells and Witches’ Gloves. Fortunately, they don't smell good to dogs!
Scientifically speaking: digitalis has about 20 species of herbaceous perennials, shrubs, and biennials in the family Plantaginaceae.
