Dozens of years of study and medical experience have shown how much obesity is damaging to health. The expenses to contemporary society in the US is shocking and draws near several hundred billion dollars every year. Needless to say much less is spent for weight loss products, but it continues to be in the billions annually. The US continues to be slowly putting on more weight with each passing year, or so it seems. Of course the food and drink industry does not help things. There is obviously no secret that countless foods include high sugar and fat content. We only have room to cover several of the dangers due to obesity.

One of the most significant consequences of obesity is type 2 diabetes, and a lot more new instances appear each year. What is now even more scary is the rising incidence of this condition in young people who are also seriously overweight. The start of diabetes occurs because research has shown a high correlation between insulin resistance and unhealthy weight. Early problems affecting joints can often be a side effect of the obese problem. Notably vulnerable joints are the knees and hips, and the reason for that is they bear so much weight. The severely obese person is usually at elevated risk for joint troubles such as osteoarthritis. However, the remedy is not always so simple as merely replacing a destroyed joint. While huge numbers of people get joint replacements, there exists a higher chance for good results with normal weight conditions. Certainly only a medical professional can make the final decision for those with substantial weight problems. At the least it's rather a risky procedure since the heavy weight on the artificial joint can cause complications. The joint that had been changed may begin to be mechanically unsound which is highly undesireable.

Problems are very common involving the cardiovascular system and particularly high blood pressure. It appears that just about every major function in the body is challenged. The basis for this as it pertains to the cardiovascular system is the extra fat tissue still requires blood for nutrition and oxygen. The net impact is to put a terrific strain on the heart as a result of needs of the excess fat tissue. Not interestingly, one's heart must produce significant amounts of pressure to keep all that tissue oxygenated. In addition to the high blood pressure, the heart rate will probably be greater as well.

The problem of morbid obesity is an all round highly unfavorable influence on all the body's organs. But our discussion here today is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all that is possible.
