Special Snowboard Tricks for Kids
- Jump 180 degrees in the air and then continue snowboarding, riding backwards. This is a great trick for getting ready for more advanced air moves.
Begin your trick by hitting a beginner slope without a lot of traffic. Start your turn by twisting your hips and shoulders in the direction of the turn and crouch down into a half-squat position.
Lift your board from the nose first and try to maintain balance while you jump and turn 180 degrees. After you turn, land both feet simultaneously and ride fakie the rest of the way. Repeat the move several times to get the hang of jumping in the air and balancing yourself on the way down. - A wheelie is when you ride with the front part of your board in the air, much like when you skateboard.
Find a hill and begin going down at a decent speed. Crouch into a half squat and lean backwards. Shift your weight to your back foot and attempt to lift your front foot. Attempt to hold that position for a few seconds and then put your foot down.
Repeat this move many times. You may wipe out in the beginning, but once you get used to how you should balance you should get the hang of it quickly. - This trick requires a snowy half pipe for airborne excitement. You'll need plenty of speed and room to perform this trick so be sure you have clearance in the half pipe area before beginning.
Maintain a flat board as you approach the half pipe. As you fly upward, grab the bottom of your board for stability. Perform a 180-degree turn while you are airborne and turn your body to the front while guiding your board in the same direction.
Don't forget to release your grip on your board as you approach the lip of the half pipe before your landing. Make sure your landing position is the same as your start position, with your board flat on the surface. This trick requires skill so practice as often as possible to perfect the move.
