    Creating a Save-the-Date Using a Template

    • 1). Sketch out some ideas for how you want your save-the-date magnet to appear, the information you want to include on it and also decide on a size. Many people use a standard 3.5-by-2-inch business card size, but you can also go bigger, if you prefer.

    • 2). Open a new document in Microsoft Word 2007. Look for the business card templates, which are available on the left-hand side of the New Document dialogue box, and choose one you like.

    • 3). Change the business card template information to reflect your needs. Highlight the text that you want to change and type over the information.

    • 4). Add more text, if necessary -- and if you have the room -- by selecting "Insert" and then "Text Box." Type in your information in this box and click "OK." Move your text to the correct position on your save-the-date card.

    • 5). Change the template's picture, if it has one, to fit your needs. Right click on the image, choose, "Change Picture" and then select an image by double clicking on the one you want to use from your Pictures folder.

    • 6). Re-size and move the picture or clip art to the desired location on your save-the-date card.

    • 7). Proof your save-the-date card to make sure you have the right date and time and that everything is spelled correctly.

    • 8). Load the magnet paper into your printer and print out your magnets.

    Creating Save-the-Date Cards from Scratch

    • 1). Follow the directions for Section 1, Step 1.

    • 2). Open a "New" document in Microsoft Word 2007.

    • 3). Insert text by clicking on "Insert," "Text Box" and then adding the desired text. If you prefer, you can use "WordArt" to insert text. Click on "Insert," "WordArt" and select a style from the ones presented to you. Type in your desired text and click "OK." You can change the appearance of your WordArt by clicking on it and then doing a right click. Select "Format WordArt" and use the formatting tools to change the font, color, size and other attributes.

    • 4). Insert a picture or clip art. Choose "Insert," then "Picture" and double click on the image you would like to use. If you would rather use a clip art image, click on "Insert," "Clip Art" and then do a search for the type of image you would like to use and select one by double clicking on it.

    • 5). Follow Steps 6, 7 and 8 from Section 1.
