Dauphin Island Tourist Information
- Dauphin Island is connected to Mobile Bay by a high-rise bridge that opened in 1982. Ferry service is offered to the east side of the island.
- The bridge and ferry allow visitors to bring their own automobiles, but there are two handicapped accessible shuttle buses that travel the island stopping at designated attractions.
- Numerous resort hotels and private homes are available year-round. The west side of Dauphin Island has a campground for both RV's and tents.
- The numerous restaurants that line the beaches specialize in fresh caught seafood from Gulf waters, but also serve traditional items.
- Dauphin island has white sandy beaches with boat launches, an Audubon bird sanctuary with annual migration festivities, chartered fishing excursions and a public golf course. Tour historic Fort Gaines or stop at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab on a rainy day.
