    Classic

    • The classic ponytail involves gathering your hair at the nape of the neck and securing it with an elastic band or barrette, and letting it hang. Evolve this style by curling half inch sections of the hair and letting them flow, or by gathering hair every two inches and securing with a colorful band that matches your outfit. Consider pulling the pony from the nape or your neck and sweeping it off-center to the side, behind the ear. Tie with a bow and create lush waves or let it hang straight and natural.

    High

    • A high pony usually sits on the top of your crown, but some are wearing it just under the crown. High ponytail draw the eye upward, which is flattering. Gather hair into one single pony or create a stacked pony with one large pony holding most of your hair and a smaller one in front. Wrap the smaller ponytail around the larger one to give the stack appearance. Leave loose tendrils around the corners of the forehead to soften the look. You can also pull out a one inch section of hair from your ponytail and wrap the small section around the hairband. This will give the ponytail an elegant loop while also hiding the hairband from sight.

    Edgy

    • Edgy ponytails are only limited by your imagination. Normally requiring massive teasing, these create a statement. Create this look by gathering hair into a high ponytail. Pin underneath hair with pins close to your hair color as you pull the tail forward to the front of your face, teasing along the way. Let her fall over one eye, toward one side or blend it into your existing bangs.
