How to Lower the Draw Weight on a Bow
- 1). Locate the limb bolts on the top and bottom of the bow.
- 2). Insert the Allen wrench into one limb bolt. Turn it counterclockwise one revolution. Repeat with the second limb bolt.
- 3). Pull the string as if you were shooting the bow.
- 4). Turn the limb bolts counterclockwise one more revolution, if the draw strength still is too heavy. Pull the bow string again to determine if you have adjusted it to the proper weight. Continue turning the limb bolts one revolution and then testing the draw weight until it is comfortable.
- 5). Attach a bow scale to the bow string to determine the draw weight. A variety of scales are available, and many use different methods for determining the weight, so follow the manufacturer's instructions.
