The teen years are a time when you need to reassert your identity and yourself.
Although this could be an uphill battle for a part of your teen years, you can achieve this in a positive manner by refraining from being sceptical or hypercritical all the time.
Being positive is a choice.
And because of this, you don't have to fall prey to all the uncertainties that are around you or inside of you.
You can assert yourself and your feelings in real situations.
You can act with self-confidence and you don't have to always beat yourself up for things that you could have or should have done.
Here are a few tips to achieve this.
1.
Decide that you will be a positive force in your life and in those of others.
Try not to focus on the negative aspects of any situation all the time.
Just learn to see everything in a light-hearted manner.
This way, you will feel positive and capable of tackling whatever comes your way.
2.
Always look at the best case scenario.
Many of you expect the worse to happen.
And when you expect the worse to happen, sadly many times it does.
This is because negative attitudes can breed negative outcomes.
So, it is important to expect good things to happen as much as possible.
This small shift in attitude can affect your life as a teen in positive ways.
3.
Don't hang around people who put you down all the time.
One of the sure ways of staying in the mires of negativity is to hang around negative friends.
Kids who are negative can't excel because they are so busy thinking of all the negative things that can happen to them.
Instead, hang around kids who expect that everything will turn out well.
You will be happier and more fulfilled as a result.
4.
Watch for negative self-talk.
Negative self-talk occurs when you say negative things to yourself over and over.
Negative self-talk usually involves things that you fret and stew about because you're uncertain about the outcome.
You tend to worry that bad things will occur, even when you don't know ahead of time.
Instead of negative self-talk, practise positive self-talk.
Tell yourself positive things, and set your mind to receiving great things in your life.
Many times, the positive things will occur if you expect them to.
By following these tips, you too can be a fulfilled and happy teen.
All you have to do is to gauge all the negativity that is inside and outside of you and expect good things to happen.
Your positive attitude will influence all of your experiences and you'll realize that your teen years are to be cherished and enjoyed.
