Setup Instructions for a Magnavox DVD Recorder & 4-Head Hi-Fi Stereo VCR ZV457MG9
- 1). Disconnect the coaxial cable leading from your antenna, cable line, cable box or satellite box from the television's "ANT IN" or "Antenna In" jack. Connect this cable to the "Antenna In" jack on the DVD recorder. Connect a second coaxial cable to the "Antenna Out" jack on the recorder, inserting the other end into the "Antenna In" jack on the rear of the TV. This connection enables the cable, satellite or rooftop antenna signal to pass through the recorder into the TV, allowing for recording of programming.
- 2). Examine the rear panel of the DVD recorder. Find the HDMI port, located near the upper-left corner of the DVD recorder's rear panel, and the array of output ports located in the lower-right corner of the rear panel. Examine the rear panel of your television. Look for ports labeled "HDMI," "COMPONENT VIDEO," "VIDEO," and "AUDIO."
- 3). Determine the best connection option for the unit's DVD/VHS output. For highest-quality sound and video, connect the recorder to the TV with an HDMI cable if your television features an HDMI port. If your television features component video ports and no HDMI port, use a component video cable, identified by its red, blue and green plugs. To carry sound, connect an RCA audio cable, identified by its red and white plugs, to complete the connection. If your television includes a "VIDEO" port and no HDMI port or component video ports, use a composite video cable, which has a yellow plug on each end, and an RCA audio cable to make the connection.
- 4). Plug the device's power cord into a nearby power outlet. Press the power button, located near the left edge of the device's front panel.
- 5). Turn on your television. Using the recorder's remote, cycle through the available input channels until the device's setup window appears on the screen.
- 6). Use the up and down arrows on the remote to select the desired language setting, then press the "OK" button. Select the appropriate broadcasting signal in a similar manner. Press the "RETURN" button to confirm your settings.
