How to Make a Bait Tank
- 1). Cut the top off of the drum, and set aside to be used as a lid later. If your drum does not have a lid, create your own out of any material that can reliably cover the opening and prevent your fish from escaping.
- 2). Attach the coupler to the bottom of the barrel with the aqua sealant. Do not center the coupler, but be sure to leave at least 1 inch between the coupler and the outer wall of the barrel.
- 3). Drill several quarter-inch holes in the piece of PVC tubing. Twenty to 30 holes is sufficient.
- 4). Place the bilge pump inside the PVC coupler, and attach one end of the vinyl tubing to the out port of the pump.
- 5). Insert the PVC tube into the coupler, so that the tubing runs up the pipe and out the top.
- 6). Secure the vinyl tubing to the inside of the top rim of the barrel using the aqua sealant. Leave some extra tubing unglued. This can be used to easily empty the barrel when not in use by hanging this over the lip of the barrel.
- 7). Drill 1/16-inch holes around the portion of the tube attached to the top of the barrel, with approximately one hole every 3 inches. This will allow the filtered water to be reintroduced more evenly than simply pouring out the end of the tube.
- 8). Place the filter floss inside the PVC pipe atop the bilge pump.
