How to Install Memory in a G4 A1010 PowerBook
- 1). Turn off the PowerBook and disconnect the power cable.
- 2). Remove any externally mounted devices on the computer and turn it over.
- 3). Use a coin to turn the battery release latch clockwise and then remove the battery from its compartment in the bottom-right corner of the computer base.
- 4). Locate the memory module compartment above the battery release latch. Extract the four screws that secure the cover and remove the cover from the base.
- 5). Touch a metal object to discharge the static from your body before you touch anything in the memory module compartment.
- 6). Spread the tabs on the memory module port. If there is a module installed, it will pop up. Pull it out of the port.
- 7). Insert the new memory module into the port and push it down until the tabs lock into the notches on each side of the module.
- 8). Return the computer to working condition with the memory module compartment cover on and the battery in place.
- 9). Start up the computer and click on "Apple," and then click on "About This Mac" to view the new memory capacity.
