How to Place Eyelets
- 1). Place the material on the work table with cardboard underneath to protect the surface. Cut a hole in the material with a scissors, craft knife or a hole punch. If using a hole punch, place it where the eyelet is to be set and pound on the end of the punch with a hammer to create a perfectly round hole.
- 2). Thread the stem of the eyelet through the hole. Thread it from the front or good side of the material to the back.
- 3). Set the material front side down on the cardboard with the eyelet stem facing up.
- 4). Place the eyelet setting tool on the end of the stem and tap on the end of the setting tool with a hammer. Tap 3 to 4 times. The stem will flare out and lay flat, sandwiching the material between it and the ring on the opposite side.
