How to Identify Cat Body Parts
- 1). Place the cat on your laps with the cat's legs facing your stomach. Every cat has four legs, two front limbs near the cat's head and two hind limbs next to the cat's tail.
- 2). Run your fingers along the cat's legs until you find the cat's paws. A cat has five toes on each forepaw and four toes on each back paw.
- 3). Run your fingers from the top of the cat's hind limb to the cat's head, along the spine. This is the cat's back, also called trunk.
- 4). Identify the cat's tail at the end of the cat's back above the hind limbs. The cat's tail is an extension of the cat's backbone. The flexible tail helps the cat balance.
- 5). Look for the cat's neck at the opposite end of the cat's spine, above the front limbs of the cat. The neck is short and it joins the cat's head to the cat's body.
- 6). Find the head at the front of the cat's back, attached to the neck above the front limbs. A cat has a small head with powerful jaws, two eyes, a nose and two pointing ears above the eyes.
- 7). Find the stomach by turning the cat on its back. The stomach is between the hind limbs.
- 8). Find the ribs and the chest between the front limbs, above the stomach.
