    Holiday Scavenger Hunt

    • Purchase several small Christmas items, such as candy canes, small plastic toy snowmen and small ornaments to hide around the classroom. Give each child a small paper bag. When you say, "Go," the children must walk around the classroom hunting for the Christmas items. The pupil who finds the most items wins a small prize.

    Ornament Relay Race

    • Find round ornaments that barely fit on a plastic spoon. Mark a starting line and a finish line about 15 feet apart. Divide the children into two teams and have them line up at the starting line. Give the first child in line a spoon and a small ornament. When you say, "Go," the first person in each line must put the ornament on the spoon and race to the finish line. When she reaches the finish line, she runs back to give the next person in line the spoon and ornament so he can run to the finish line. Players cannot use their hands to hold the ornament on the spoon. The first team to get all the players to cross the finish line wins the game.

    Snowball Toss

    • Cut holes in the bottom of a cardboard box and paint the box any color. Use a marker to write point values around the holes and prop the box up against a wall. Take several polystyrene foam balls -- ensure the balls fit through the holes in the box -- and spray them with white glitter spray. Mark a standing line about 10 feet from the box. Give each pupil five "snowballs" to toss into the holes. Add up the points for each child and the child with the most points wins the game.

    Pin the Nose on Frosty

    • Draw a picture of Frosty the snowman on a large poster board. Draw a dotted line around where the carrot nose should go. Cut several carrot-shaped noses out of construction paper and write each child's name on a nose. Put double-sided tape on the back of each nose. Blindfold each pupil and spin her four times. Tell her to try to pin the nose on Frosty. The child who pins the nose closest to the correct spot wins the game.
