So, you finally have that long awaited and coveted drivers license you have been dreaming of.
If you aren't careful, this dream of driving can quickly turn into a nightmare.
Whether you are driving to school, driving to the movies, or just cruising around town, you need to be ready and safe.
Always make sure to focus primarily on your driving.
Do not let your cell phone be a distraction for you.
You should have your cell phone near for emergencies, but never talk while driving.
Never text while driving either, this is a major cause of teen accidents today.
Doing this will cause distractions while driving.
If you get sleepy while driving, pull over and take a nap.
Driving while sleepy or even falling asleep at the wheel is a cause of many teen car accidents.
Being sleepy can affect your mental abilities as much as other mind altering substances can.
Don't drive too fast or speed.
Speeding is another reason for many teen accidents.
It can get you a ticket, and too many tickets can cause you to lose your drivers license.
Speeding fines can also be very expensive.
Make sure about the kind of license you have.
For instance, if you have an intermediate license, you will be restricted to driving at certain times in some states.
There may also be a limit on the amount of passengers that are allowed to ride with you.
If you are driving in another state, be aware of their laws too.
You need to be prepared for any roadside emergencies.
Your basic roadside safety supplies should include a first aid kit, a flashlight, jumper cables, flat repair kit and a spare tire that are in working order.
Make sure you have your drivers license, vehicle registration card, and insurance information with you before driving.
