Do you worry and are uneasy when ever your spouse heads out the door with his or her friends for a night out? This is a fairly new habit for your partner and it seems to be happening more often and the hours out are getting longer and longer.

You hate to think it but you have to ask yourself "Is my spouse cheating on me?".

This is something that no one, especially if you have children, wants to deal with, a cheating mate. With all that is going on in the economy and such, this threat to your family and financial security is not something you want to deal with. Your mind is spinning but you keep coming back to "How dare my mate do this to our family and me?".

You Need To Figure Out What Is Going On

Your first thought is to strike out at them because of the stress you are under from their cheating. An understandable and normal reaction. Your mate, after all, may be falling in love with some one else or at least have sex with that person.
If you can, before you confront your mate, stow the emotions and systematically discover proof about their affair. Who knows maybe you're wrong and your mate isn't cheating.

Check for these signs of cheating:

Is your mate not acting normally toward you? Is he or she either overly attentive to you (guilt) or dismissive or openly hostile to you looking for any little thing to start a fight.

When you spouse walk out of the room when they are speaking on their cell phone and requiring a lot of privacy lately?

Does your spouse stay up late at night on the computer and recently set up a separate, password protected log in instead of the log in that you shared for a long time?

Is your spouse on a crash diet and obsessing over their appearence?

Is your mate heading off the mail so that you can't see the credit cards or bank statements or have your noticed extra amount of money being withdrawn at ATMs from your joint account?

Did you stumble accidentally on grooming products and a complete change of clothes for your mate in the trunk of your car?

These are some of the signs that you might have a spouse that is a cheater.

So, What Can You Do?

Now you have some hard decisions. What if the affair is a fling, and indiscretion, do you want to try and work it out and save your marriage or is divorce the only answer for you? Think about these options that you have.

Hire a private investigator. If you are set on a divorce, you will probably need to do this, it is expensive. And after that you would need a good divorce lawyer, also very expensive.

If you feel that your marriage is salvageable, you could gather your information, confront your spouse and see if he or she would want to work it out and save your marriage. A good marriage counselor will be needed if this the direction that you both want to go to try and fix your relationship.

This is a brief overview of a potentially devastating situation for you and your family. If you can, try to approach this in a measured manner as the future and well being of both you and your family may depend on it.
