    • 1). Choose a piece of construction paper that is the color you wish to have for your butterfly. This eliminates the need for coloring in the butterfly as it will already have background color. Fold the piece of construction paper in half.

    • 2). Draw one-half of the butterfly's wings on the folded paper's crease. You may draw the shape and size of the wings in any way you desire. Use a picture or stencil of a butterfly as a guide. For a basic butterfly design, draw two half-circles that are attached to each other.

    • 3). Cut the butterfly design out of the construction paper by following your drawing as a guide. Keep the paper folded while you cut it out so that you are left with a butterfly that has wings of the same size and shape on both sides. Draw two small, thin rectangles on the scraps of construction paper and cut them out to make antennae.

    • 4). Unfold the butterfly and glue the antennae onto the top of the butterfly. Decorate your butterfly using any type of decorative embellishments you wish such as rubber stamps, glitter, stickers or paint.
