What ever the audition is, be it a reality show audition, an open casting call, or even a Disney audition, there is one thing that happens for nearly everyone.
Just the idea that you are in an audition can create some personal nervousness.
Nervousness reduces your ability to be yourself and especially in a Reality Show Audition you want to show them who you are, be yourself, and let them see that you have what it is they are looking for.
With some simple understandings you can greatly reduce your nervousness and achieve greater success at your Reality Show Audition.
The first thing to remember is that you want to be a little nervous at your casting call.
It's OK to be a bit nervous.
Nervousness at an audition means your sense's are heightened and you are paying attention to what is going on.
This is a good thing, so don't get over concerned about being nervous.
It means you are on the right track, and you can use the nervous energy in your reality show audition.
You just don't want to be overly nervous.
Being 'over' nervous at your reality show audition will decrease your ability to show what you have got to offer the casting people running the audition.
The second thing to remember is your breathing before and during your reality show audition.
I know this may sound like a simple thing because we involuntarily do it all day long, every day.
So why should you have to remember to breathe during your open audition? Here is your answer...
when you get anxious or nervous you subconsciously hold your breathe.
It's kind of like in a thriller movie when something drastic is about to happen, or when your name is in a raffle and they are calling out the last name and you really want to win.
You stop breathing just for a moment in anticipation, in excitement, or fear.
This moment of non-breathing during your audition creates tension in your body.
This is your bodies' way of increasing your alertness.
Unfortunately when you are nervous this increased alertness can make you more nervous and anxious, and so you hold your breathe.
This increasing nervousness cycle continues, and the casting directors are not going to get an accurate view of who you really are.
Breaking this cycle is very simple.
You pause and take some deep breaths in through your nose, down into the bottom of your diaphragm and out through your mouth.
(Do this before you walk into meet the reality show audition directors!) You should feel the bottom of your stomach push out a little with the in breath, if you feel your chest expanding first then you are not breathing deep enough, your diaphragm must fill first.
This should help you a lot with your nervousness, and help you to shine through during your reality show audition.
