How to Get Efflorescence Off a Cellar Floor
- 1). Wet the area containing efflorescence thoroughly. Pre-wetting the area prevents the cleaning solution from penetrating into the concrete floor.
- 2). Mix a solution of one part muriatic acid and 12 parts water in a bucket. Apply to the floor.
- 3). Scrub the affected area with a stiff-bristled brush.
- 4). Rinse well with clear water. If you leave residue from the muriatic acid in place, it can damage the floor.
- 5). Sprinkle the floor with baking soda and use a broom to sweep it around the area. This will neutralize any remaining residue from your cleaning solution.
