How to Remove Oil Stains From Wood Floors
- 1). Remove any excess oil on the floor with newspaper. Press the paper into the oil to blot the moisture.
- 2). Mix a solution of mild dish detergent and warm water. Pour a thin layer of the mixture onto the oil stain.
- 3). Scrub the solution into the oil stain thoroughly, using a scrub brush. Wipe the area with a damp cloth. Wait for the wood to dry. You won't be able to see if the stain is gone until the wood is no longer wet.
- 4). Rub mineral spirits onto the stain if the soap mixture did not completely remove the stain. Apply the mineral spirits across the affected wooden area, using a clean cloth.
