Gift Ideas for Mechanics

    • A mechanic and an Elvis Presley fan have something in common during the holidays: they get the same types of gifts every year. While your mechanic may love cars and spend most of his time with tools, he might most appreciate a gift having little to do with his job. With a little creative thinking outside the box or, in this case, the garage, your gift will be a hit with any mechanic.

    Manicure

    • Because mechanics work with their hands, dirty nails and greasy fingers are part of everyday life. However, the mechanic you know may want his hands to be soft and smooth, at least for a couple of days. A relaxing hand massage with a buff and some lotion would make his hands feel like new.

    Poster

    • Garages are usually gray and stark except for the many tools hanging around. Instead of giving him another tool for his belt, give him something to brighten up his work space. A poster of his favorite movie or cartoon character, or even a customized poster made from photos of his family, would add a personalized touch to his garage.

    Fancy Night Out

    • Mechanics work hard, and they work in coveralls covered with grease and grime. While he may not mind his everyday garb, getting dressed up for a fancy night out on the town for a nice dinner and a show might boost his ego. Everyone likes to look in the mirror and see himself as handsome as he can be every now and then.

    Down Time Wants

    • Even though your mechanic friend probably spends most of his time in his garage, he may also have other hobbies. If he enjoys reading, get him some books, or maybe a mechanics magazine or a magazine about cars. If he likes watching television, get him an accessory like a remote control holder or universal remote. If it seems he's always working except when he's sleeping, get him a new foam mattress topper or pillow.

    New Necessities

    • While getting him things he wants or does not already have is ideal, there may be things he needs to replace. If he has been complaining about a broken tool or something else he uses daily that may need replacing, find one of good quality to give him. To add a personal touch, get your gift engraved.
