As many as seventy-five percent of women will experience at least one vaginal yeast infection in their lifetime, this is not something to be embarrassed about.
This is often characterized by itching, burning, soreness, pain during intercourse and/or urination, and vaginal discharge that is can be a cheesy white in colour.
Not all women will experience these symptoms.
One of the easiest ways to tell if you have yeast infection is if you have an itch around the vagina.
This can sometimes be accompanied by a burning sensation, accompanied by a swollen vulvar area that can also be red.
If you get a burning sensation when you start to urinate this is another good sign that you have a yeast infection.
If you feel you have a yeast infection it is always advisable to contact your Doctor.
There are some things that you can do to reduce the effects and reduce the chances of Vaginal Yeast infections.
Diet can play a key part in reducing the production of yeast, the following is a list of foods that should be avoided or at least minimised in the diet of any sufferer.
Foods to Avoid Sweets including hidden sweeteners in processed foods.
Fruit of any kind including fruit juices Pasta & Noodles Cakes & Biscuits containing sugar Beans or peas with added sweeteners or sugars.
Coconut, Walnuts, Peanuts (any sort) and Pistachio nuts Soymilk, cheese, sweetened yoghurts Alcohol, Coffee, Tea Processed meats (opt for free range meat) Good Foods to Help Natural yoghurt contains helpful bacteria including acidophilus and bifidus that helps destroy yeast.
In addition to eating natural yoghurts they can be applied topically.
Raw vegetables are not only good for you, they can help combat yeast infections.
Go for non starchy, non sweet vegetables either steamed or sauteed.
These can be cooked up into homemade vegetable soup or broth.
Also feel free to eat high-protein meals.
Foods like beef, chicken, fish and eggs are all good for you anyway, where possible always go for free range meats as these with have less antibiotics in them.
Antibiotics will make your condition worsen.
