How to Protect a Tank Anchor Bolt Using Grease for Corrosion
- 1). Locate the anchor bolts that attach the tank to the floor or wall.
- 2). Scape off any rust on the bolts with a steel wool pad. Rub the pad back and forth over the rusty anchor bolt. Steel rusts like iron, while other metals corrode.
- 3). Pour a liberal amount of anti-corrosion grease or corrosion inhibiting grease onto a onto a rag or cloth.
- 4). Apply the lubricant to all areas of the bolt. The grease provides a protective barrier against moisture. Rust forms on steel bolts when they are exposed to moisture for a long period of time.
