How to Sanitize Floor Mats
- 1). Plug the drain in the bathtub. (Using the tub is a great way to clean any size mat.)
- 2). Run the hot water until it is close to scalding. Fill the tub halfway for small mats and almost full for larger mats and area rugs.
- 3). Pour in a half-cup of bleach for small mats and one cup for larger mats. Use regular bleach only on white- or cream-colored mats. Use non-chlorine bleach for darker-colored mats to avoid staining.
- 4). Place the mat into the water. Using a wooden spoon, "stir" the water around. Allow the mat to soak for one hour.
- 5). Take the mat out and line dry it (or just throw it over the shower curtain rod to dry).
