Healthier Design

Bold and beautiful, rich bright colors and not many wood, raised panel doors.
That seems to be the trend.
As we get more and more germ conscious these days, we'll start to see kitchen surfaces that are easier to keep clean, spawning cleaner lines with less clutter.
Painted surfaces are also coming back.
It's almost like we're revisiting the 60's without being conscious of the emerging trend.
Lots of lacquered or laminate cabinets faces, and counter tops made of solid substances instead of the old particle board and laminate that was a breeding ground for mold and bacteria.
The old top-support kitchen sink will be a hard sell over the under-counter we're seeing more of.
This whole clean conscious movement will change the look of many homes for years to come.
Nothing but a natural tile or stone floor will do in a bathroom anymore.
The days of the vinyl floor surface on 1/4" plywood underlay is slipping and we're seeing more and more slosh coats of concrete under natural stone covering.
Plywood and natural substances don't mix unless you like cracks in your floor.
Laminate floors have taken a pretty good hold in consumers minds but not the best for a bathroom because of the danger of moisture.
Bedrooms are heading toward a more rich and timeless look with lots of natural light during the day and a soothing sanctuary at night.
Earth-tones and thick downy bedding is in the works.
Laminate flooring with good quality throw rugs are what it's all about.
Carpet...
well we all know where carpet is heading, does off-gassing and dust-mites come to mind? So, secretly shaping our design and decorating decisions is our need to keep it clean.
Nothing wrong with that unless it's an obsession.
I've never seen anyone over do-it when it comes to decorating.
Have you?
