User Guide for Compaq Presario 4000
- In order to get your Presario 4000 off to the right start, unpack the components carefully to ensure that you have everything you need. Presario buyers can choose either a wired or wireless keyboard and mouse set, so verify that the company has shipped the correct option. Look for all of the power cords, wires and software in the box.
- When unpacking your computer, check that you have received the monitor you ordered with your Presario. If using your own monitor, locate the monitor connection on your new computer, which may lie on a different part of the monitor than on your current PC. Look at the end of the monitor cable and examine the back of the Presario for a connection that matches that cable. Connect the monitor cable and power cable, then plug the power cord into your surge protector or UPS.
- Connect your external speakers to the "out" terminal on the back of the Presario PC. This will allow you to listen to your favorite music with good quality and true sound. Connect the power cord and connect the other end to a surge protector or UPS, then connect the network cable to your wireless router or high-speed modem. If you have a dial-up connection, connect the phone line to your modem.
- Turn on your Presario 4000 and allow it to go through its initial setup, after which you can begin using your new PC.
