Canadian Law Enforcement Training
- The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is Canada's federal police force. Its Academy, "Depo" Division, is in Regina, Saskatchewan. Training includes police defensive tactics (PDT), firearms, weight training, running, driving unit, community policy and aboriginal healing circles. Of the average 8,000 applicants per year, about 1,200 are accepted for training, with about 350 graduating Mounties each year.
- The Canadian Police College is in Ottawa, Ontario. It provides advanced police training to senior Canadian law enforcement officers and abroad with an emphasis on organized and multiple jurisdictional crime. Training courses include investigative techniques, high-tech crime, forensic identification, explosives disposal and investigations and police departmental management.
- The Ontario Provincial Police Training Academy is in Orillia, Ontario. The primary clients of the Ontario Police College are police and civilian members of all police services in Ontario, including municipal and regional police services and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). It also has courses for private investigators and security guards.
- The other Canadian police academies are the Justice Institute of British Columbia, New Westminster, British Columbia; Ecole Nationale de Police du Quebec, Nicolet, Quebec; Holland College Police Academy, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; Saskatchewan Police College, Regina, Saskatchewan and C.O. Bick Police College, Scarborough, Ontario.
