How to Clean Porcelain Figures
- 1). Spray the figure with compressed air. Compressed air often comes in a can that is equipped with a long, skinny nozzle. The strong force of air can remove some dust and grime that wiping cannot. It can also reach cramped or tight spaces on the figure that the cloth is unable to reach. Hold the figure 2 or 3 inches away from the can when using, or as the can's directions state. Avoid using the compressed air on figures that have objects that can be blown off.
- 2). Hold your porcelain figure under a stream of warm water -- such as your faucet -- to remove stains or dirt. Gently rub the stained areas with a soft cloth and gentle soap, then rinse the figure off again when clean. Place the figure on a paper towel to dry.
- 3). Submerge the figure into a bowl of warm water for five seconds if the grime is stubborn. Avoid placing the figure in water for any longer as it may cause damage to the porcelain. Scrub the figure with a soft cloth and mild soap if the stain persists, then rinse off with warm water again when the grime is gone.
