How to Clean a Vacuum Filter With Water
- 1). Fit an allergy mark snugly around your mouth and nose. Snap loose and slide out the dirt-collection bin of the vacuum cleaner. Remove the large dust bin. Hold this compartment down inside the trash bag and shake out the dirt.
- 2). Locate the filter cup. Look for it attached somewhere inside the large dust bin area, perhaps hanging from the ceiling of the main compartment slot. Untwist the filter cup and remove it. Shake the dust out of the filter cup and into the trash bag, keeping it away from your eyes.
- 3). Go to a faucet and adjust the flow so that the pressure is low. Hold the filter cup under the running water so that the water flows through the inside of the cup to the outside of the cup. Move the cup around under the water so that all of the filter material is cleaned.
- 4). Take a damp cloth and run it over the threaded lip of the filter cup. Take off the allergy mask and wash your face and hands. Wash the mask so it will be ready for the next time if it is reusable. Throw away the mask if it is good for only one use.
- 5). Set the filter cup out to dry. Place it screw-on end down on a sunny ledge if possible, or on a towel where it will not be disturbed or exposed to outside dirt. Leave it there until it feels dry when you pinch the filter material gently between your fingers.
- 6). Replace the vacuum filter cup by screwing it into the threads inside the main compartment space. Replace the main dust compartment and snap it into place.
