Lawn Care & Maintenance

    Watering

    • Nearly every type of lawn will require some water during the growing season. The depth and frequency will vary, depending on the type of lawn and region in which it's grown. To help make watering the lawn less of a chore, All About Lawns recommends drought-tolerant grasses such as Bermuda grass and tall and fine fescues.

    Mowing

    • The mowing height of a lawn will vary depending on whether it is a cool-season or warm-season grass. As a rule of thumb, warm-season grasses can be cut shorter than cool-season grasses, which should be cut down to about 2.5 inches, according to All About Lawns. Most grasses will require at least a weekly mowing.

    Fertilizing

    • From helping to ward off insects to helping them maintain their lush color, fertilizing is an important maintenance step for all lawns. Like watering, some will require more than others, but the most important thing to do is to establish a schedule to feed a lawn the nutrients it needs at the appropriate times.
