A mood disorder is a psychiatric illness in which a person's mood is abnormally high or low and seems to be inappropriate for the particular set of circumstances in which it occurs.
Common mood disorders include bipolar disorder and depression. The latter tends to affect patients with stroke and obstructive sleep apnea.
